Second Hand Equipment

Buying new equipment can be expensive.  Another option to consider might be purchasing second hand equipment.  However, there may not be as much choice and you would need to ensure that any equipment is the correct size for you.  You would also need to consider if you can collect any equipment.

Before buying second hand equipment you may wish to see whether equipment can be provided to you by Oxfordshire County Council.  They may provide equipment to adults living in Oxfordshire.  In the first instance you should contact the Social and Health Care Team.  Tel:  0845 050 7666.  Please see our section on Occupational Therapy Assessments.

You may also wish to look at our Wisebuy Guides which give some useful hints and tips for buying equipment, whether it is new or second hand.

The following factsheet lists places where you can buy or sell specialist equipment.  The list also includes charities which will collect items of household equipment, which may be useful if you are moving home, or are replacing equipment, such as a bed or chair.  Also included are places where you can donate equipment or post a "wanted" advert.
